Overview
Trickle ventilators are small ‘openers’ concealed
within a window or curtainwall’s horizontal members, allowing
fresh air to ‘trickle’ into the building and providing
natural ventilation without the need for operating windows or
sliding doors.
Ideal for hospitality and commercial building where untended
wide-open windows can seriously affect the facility’s heating
and cooling costs, trickle ventilators let in a modest, but effective,
amount of fresh air on an ongoing basis, while allowing stale
air to exit. The use of trickle ventilators helps keep ‘sick
building syndrome’ at bay; the build-up of contaminants
can result in illness or chronic poor health for the inhabitants
of a building with little or no ongoing air exchange.
Larger widths of the Trickle Ventilator allow for greater air
flow. Air flow can be further increased through the use
of air extract fans.
Trickle ventilators also are effective in combating occasional
bouts of condensation, especially as may result from showering
or bathing in a hotel room. A small amount of air flow is often
all that is needed to dispel the deposition of moisture around
the window.
Trickle ventilators, normally sized based on the width of the glazed
opening, are manually opened and closed. Available in a range
of colors to match the window or curtainwall members, they are
the true ‘invisible vents’. They provide comfort and
security to the building’s clients and inhabitants, while
not affecting the aesthetics of the building exterior cladding.
